You may be asked to submit a sample post in addition to your bio, especially if multiple applications are received for the same character. These sample posts may be general in nature (i.e. you provide the context), or you may be asked to write a character "response" to a sample post provided.
GUIDELINES
1. Please use the bio format provided. Once your bio is ready, send it to the appropriate moderator. (See Left Turn Staff) Once it's approved, you may post it in the Character Bios forum and enter the game. Please do not post in the Character Bios forum or gaming forums until your bio has been approved.
2. By posting a bio, you are stating that you have read the rules and agree to abide by them.
3. This game is set in the movieverse established by the first X-Men movie ONLY. We are happy to welcome other comic- and movieverse characters as available, but it may require some rethinking of canon in order to make them fit. If you're interested in introducing a brand new character into the game, please contact Libby (the admin) or the appropriate faction mod to discuss your idea before sending in a bio.
We do not accept original characters.
If you are filling a role vacated by a previous player, you will need to work closely with the mods during bio creation to make sure essential "back history" is maintained, while still allowing you some freedom of interpretation for your take on the character.
4. Your bio cannot directly contradict another player's bio. If you have questions about another player's bio that contradicts yours, feel free to ask - just don't get carried away, and above all, be polite. Or I will smite you with my baseball bat of doom.
5. New characters: When sending your bio to the admin for approval, please include a rough idea of how you would like to introduce your character into the game.
6. Multiple characters: We do allow players to take on additional characters, but it's handled on a case-by-case basis. Currently, there is no limit on the number of additional characters a player may have, but the player MUST demonstrate a consistent ability to keep up with their current characters before we'll consider applications for more. This is subject to admin approval, so please check with Libby first before approaching the faction mod.
7. Last but definitely not least: in many ways, your bio serves as your "audition" into the game. Left Turn at Westchester is extremely writing-intensive, so we expect reasonably good grammar, spelling, and general writing skills. This does NOT mean we're perfectionists - far from it! But if your bio is a mess of run-on sentences and misspelled words, chances are you're not going to be right for the game. Take time to look over your bio before sending it to the mods. Remember: this is the first glimpse we get of you, and first impressions count.
And a note for current players: Every time you edit your bio after posting it, please post a note at the bottom telling readers what was tweaked. Thanks so much!
