Clarice was mildly surprised that Piotr had let them sneak away as easily as he did. She was certain she was going to
have to beg and wheedle and if that failed, just teleport away. It would appear they had a guardian angel in the form of Lejla, who probably wanted some alone
time with Piotr just as much as the three girls wanted to play with make-up.
The woman who'd called out to her was smiling welcomingly as they approached, so Clarice wasn't really
concerned that she was going to attack them. She'd heard about people attacking obvious mutants, though it had never happened to her, primarily because she
spent all her time inside the mansion. But this woman was smiling and, really, what was the danger in playing with make-up?
"C'mon, you three," she called. "Get on over here. You girls ever had a makeover
"Nope!" Clarice pulled herself up on one of the stools by the make-up counter, barely resisting the urge to
spin around in it. "I mean, I got in my mom's lipstick once. I thought she was going to be mad, but she thought it was kind of funny." She pursed
her lips. "She wouldn't let me play with it after that, though."
She stuck her hand out. "I'm Clarice, by the way. This is Terry and Illyana."

//OOC: Okay, I'm pretty sure I'm next, but if I screwed up, just let me know! //
'Tifah resisted the overwhelming urge to glance over at Tyra and grin. The purple girl bounced right over, without a care or fear in the world, and while
mutants were hardly an unknown in their mall (even the obvious ones), it was rare indeed to see a one as smiling and unafraid as this chick.
'Tifah beamed at the girl as she climbed on the stool, then looked to her friends as Purple Miss kept talking, beckoning them over with a quick flick of
the fingers before going back to her makeup selection.
"I mean, I got in my mom's lipstick once."
'Tifah nodded, briefly distracted in choosing between a pink cream rouge and a lavender base. Yeeeah, that last one might do in a pinch. "Mm-hmm, go
"I thought she was going to be mad, but she thought it was kind of funny. She wouldn't let me play with it after that, though."
'Tifah laughed. "Yeah, I bet she didn't. Could've been worse, though, right? You know what I did once, when I was a kid?" She
swept all the extra cosmetics into a basket. "I got into my big sister's lipstick and wrote all over the bathroom walls. Thought it was
pretty." She cracked up at that and shook her head. "Lord, I thought my mama was gonna have kittens."
"I'm Clarice, by the way. This is Terry and Illyana."
"Latifah Owens." She grinned, amused and impressed, and shook Clarice's hand. "And that girl at the hair-bob counter beside you is Tyra. We
are makeup and hair-bob professionals." She drew out the last word in a playfully atrocious French accent. "So what do you think? How about
three makeovers, all the way and on the house? You girls get some fun, some freebies, and... you keep us from being bored slam outta our minds. Girl,
I ain't had a customer all day."
She glanced at Illyana with a wink. "Even you, Little Bit. Your big brother won't even recognize you by the time we're through."

She loved her big brother, but she was a big girl now, not just the little sick thing that he protected.
More than one hour. Lejla was like a dog on a leash, tugging him away from them as he shouted his warning. It didn't anger her as it would have 24 hrs ago,
but it did annoy her. Well, she had her own new friends now, and two strange women who seemed to want to do things to them. She'd be fine without
"C'mon, you three," she called. "Get on over here. You girls ever had a makeover before?"
More words she didn't learn. Cover what? "Nope!" Didn't seem like a bad thing, from
Clarice's reaction. All those things on the counter were fancies that the most gorgeous women on the television and in pictures would wear. Except for
Mama. She didn't need the face paints to make her look pretty. But if those were the same stuff that she saw on some women when they took trips into the
city, then she was curious. They looked like porcelain dolls sometimes, with their bright cheeks and mouths. Touching her own lip in fascination, Illyana
smiled faintly in wonder.
"I'm Clarice, by the way. This is Terry and Illyana."
"Illyaaaana," Tyra repeated, drawing the name out dramatically. She smiled at the little blonde. "That's
"No. Is only Illyana." The tiny Russian corrected. "And thank you.
Tay-raaaaa. Is pretty too!" She liked them. They spoke funny, but they were nice, when they didn't look like they were studying them. Piotr had to be
jealous, he wasn't going to get to have this kind of fun. Yes, she was predicting fun. Her eyes couldn't stray from the colorful bunches of what looked
like hair in the lady's hand.
She wanted to ask what a makeover was, but Terry and Clarice were already agreeing to
it, happily. How could she say no to that?
"Even you, Little Bit. Your big brother won't even recognize you by the
time we're through."
"Let's not go too nuts," Tyra cautioned, pretending to be
worried. "Did you see the size of that guy? I ain't gettin' on his bad side." She pretended to weigh her options, then waved a dismissive
hand. "Oh, never mind, that's why they've got the damn security cameras here in the first place, right? OK, let's get this thing
They were worrying about Piotr? That was silly! Illyana knew better than anyone, there
was nothing scary about him. "No worry, Piotr is nice!" Assuring them with a smile, she gave a confident nod. "Is only big, not
Illyana," Terry nudged her. "A makeover! We'll look really good after this! Come
"Okay then." Illyana decided after a moment of thought, mouth spreading wide in a grin. She was smart, beginning
to piece this all together. Makeover = making them pretty, yes? That's what it looked like, what she hoped it was. They had so much cosmetics, it had to be
it. Yes, Piotr would be really jealous now. Admiring the colors of the display, her eyes sparkled with possibility. She wanted to look
really good after this.

"Let's not go too nuts. Did you see the size of that guy? I ain't gettin' on his bad
Tifah snapped her head toward Tyra, her face twisted in the world's biggest WTF?! face, only to grin and roll her eyes when Tyra dismissed it with a wave
of the hand. "Girl, you just need to hush up over there," she teased under her breath, rounding the makeup counter with her treasure trove of
cosmetics tucked under her arm.
"Oh, never mind, that's why they've got the damn security cameras here in the first place, right? OK, let's get this thing
Tifah ambled up beside Clarice and set the basket off to one side, then she pulled the trays of makeover products close enough to reach. "First, we gotta
use a little cleanser," she explained to the girl, plucking a few bottles from the nearest tray and giving them a shake. She shot Clarice a sideways
glance. "You allergic to anything? Let me see your wrist. We'll try it there first, right? See if you have a reaction." Which raised an
interesting question, now that Tifah thought about it. With purple skin, how did you tell?
"No worry, Piotr is nice! Is only big, not scary."
It was the little blonde who spoke. Tifah looked up from applying cleanser to a pad and grinned down at Illyana in turn. "Ooh, listen to that
accent!" she exclaimed. "That's pretty! Where you from, chica?"
Tyra joined her, hand mirror in tow. "We'll take turns. Tifah here can get the makeup started on one, I'll
work on the hair. You, missy... What do you think of green...?"
Tifah nodded while bending to swab Clarice's wrist. "Mm-hmm. Green is good."
"Green? Won't be makin' me look like a carrot, would ye? It's a pretty color but… What do ye think? Yer the professional here."
"And another one!" Tifah straightened and burst out laughing. "It's like International Day out here or something! Go on, girl, let
me hear you again." She gestured playfully at Terry. "C'mon, say something else!"
"I hope you guys like working with purple and green. Someone at school once told me that it's pretty much impossible to make those colors not
clash, but I kind of like them together myself, honestly."
"Sweetpea, let me tell you something..." Tifah turned back to Clarice, checked the girl's wrist, then nodded approval and bent to dab at her
face. "Don't ever listen to some kid at school when it comes to looking good. Anybody tells you purple and green clash, I can promise you
they're jealous. In fact..." She tilted the girl's chin and eyed her closely. "I'm thinking more green is the way to
go. What do you think? Green eyeshadow? Although blue wouldn't look bad, either."
