// Continued from the Main Kitchen, 12-26, Late Afternoon //
Finding an unoccupied place to eat was easier said than done. In the dining hall there were students sitting around sipping cocoa by the fire, probably in anticipation of dinner. Lejla didn't even consider the rec room or the library, and even the conserva... whatever Piotr called it, where they had their first 'date', that was occupied as well.
Tramping through the gymnasium, Lejla was beginning to think that if this room wasn't empty, they should call it quits and go back to the dining hall. There was no way she wanted to darken the door of her own classroom during the holiday.
Luckily, save for the potted plants, they found the room devoid of life. Lejla paused to look at the blinking lights on the enormous Christmas tree. There were still a few presents stacked in neat little piles beneath its spreading limbs. She wondered if any of them were for her, given that she and Piotr left the melee of yesterday's gift exchange before it concluded.
Shrugging, she made her way to the far side where several tables and chairs were placed near the windows. There would be time to see if any of those packages had their names on them, after their hunger was sated.
As she put the bag with Piotr's jacket on the floor and her own on a table, Lejla glanced out the window at the basketball court. Its pristine blanket of white had been disturbed, reminding her of the jet's departure. If the teachers returned during their trip to the mall, there was no evidence. She and Piotr hadn't seen a single adult in their search for privacy.
Remembering she wasn't alone, Lejla turned her attention to Piotr. Not really expecting him to answer in the negative, still she motioned at the table < Is this okay? >.
She allowed Piotr to settle their things on the table, but her mind was still with the X-Men. Her hands gestured out the window. < Where you think they went today? > With an annoyed gurgle, her famished body suggested she should let it rest. Nevertheless, now that her anxiety was aroused, Lejla's stomach wasn't the only thing needing appeasement.
